Kyle's Place

For a teenager, homelessness can take many forms. Homeless teens stay with friends, family or “couch surf” from house to house. They live in motels, transitional shelters and domestic violence shelters. They reside in cars, parks, public spaces, abandoned buildings, substandard housing, bus or train stations and similar settings.

Serving as the only youth residential campus in Denton County for teens ages 14-19, Kyle’s Place provides stability and a family-like experience where youth can:

  • Cultivate a positive identity

  • Break negative cycles

  • Take ownership and map a plan for their future

  • Discover the life skills necessary to thrive in adulthood

In 2020, Kyle’s Place served 34 teens on campus, offering the essential elements of “home”: stability and the guidance and accountability of caring adults.

What We Provide

Our residential facility provides a safe, caring place for youth to call home, where their basic needs are fully supported and their overall well-being is a priority. Residents receive comfortable clothing, nutritious meals, and access to comprehensive medical and dental care. We offer individualized case management, mental health care and assessments, and one-on-one counseling to ensure each young person receives personalized support. In addition, we provide academic assistance, life skills training to promote independence, and opportunities for spiritual development. Through community outreach, access to local resources, and recreational outings, we strive to create a well-rounded environment that fosters healing, growth, and long-term success.

Success Story

“When I was 15, I reluctantly told my parents that I was gay, hoping they would understand. The talk ended with my dad threatening me and my mom saying, ‘being gay is a choice.’ So, I left home and bounced between friends and other family members until I found Journey to Dream.

Not having my parents in my life affected me more than I understood at the time. I missed a lot, and it impacted my ability to develop positive relationships and grow mentally and emotionally. Journey to Dream is helping me let go of the constant feeling of shame and disappointment toward my family.

Everyone can get stuck in a negative loop, no matter who they are. My worst fear is that loop. I've seen people stuck in it for their entire lives. It takes a personal decision and dedication to break out of that loop. It gets better, but only if you work to make it better. Journey to Dream helps me to do that.”

– Kerri, Journey to Dream Graduate
